Land Titling Act Not Yet Implemented in AP: Dharmana
Visakhapatnam: State revenue minister Dharmana Prasada Rao announced that the Land Titling Act enacted in Andhra Pradesh will be made more robust by codifying the views of all communities.
He maintained that this act will be implemented in the state only after updating the revenue records.
“People and lawyers' associations need not worry about this law,” Dharmana maintained. He appealed to lawyers to stop their protests and attend to their duties.
Speaking to journalists, the minister clarified that the state government has not taken any steps to implement the AP Land Titling Act so far.
Dharmana has spoken on the issue against the backdrop of concerns that Land Titling Act will reduce the role of judicial system and the common man may lose his natural right of going to courts.
He made it clear that this act will be brought into force only after a comprehensive land survey is completed in all revenue villages of AP. He pointed out that though the Andhra Land Titling Act has been passed by the AP Legislative Assembly and the state government has given its approval to the Central Government on such a law, AP government has not yet notified the act so far.
The minister stated that a comprehensive survey program is being conducted in over 17,000 villages in a phased manner. The survey has been completed in only about 4,000 villages.
He pointed out that many states in the country have taken steps to follow the comprehensive survey system being implemented in AP.
