Markapuram: The death toll increased to five in the road accident that took place on the Srisailam Ghat Road at Chintala in Doranala mandal of Prakasam district on Wednesday following the death of grievously injured Neelamma, 52, and Swaroopa, 6, on Thursday.
While Neelamma succumbed to her injuries at the medical college hospital in Kurnool, Swaroopa breathed her last while being shifted to Kurnool from the government hospital in Dornala.
It may be recalled that 3 persons were killed and 18 others injured in a head-on collision between a RTC bus of Karnataka state and a Trax Toofan vehicle on the ghat road to Srisailam on Wednesday.
The victims were travelling in Toofan vehicle to Maha Nandi from Srisailam and the bus was heading to Srisailam. Doctors treating the injured at the government hospital in Dornala said the condition of other critically injured, Bhagyasree, Anasuya, Kasthurbai and Gowramma was also alarming.
