Kottayam: Connecting differently abled in matrimony
Kottayam: Mary Jenitta, 31, is a senior manager in a nationalised bank, but with a disability. She was crippled by polio on both her legs when she was an eight-month-old child and now walks with the help of crutches and calipper. She is on a mission to help the physically challenged to find life partners and has launched a matrimonial website for the purpose.
Jenitta, who works in the Union Bank of India, Kodimatha branch near Kottayam, launched the site www. heavenlycarecharitabletrust.org on February 24 and many people have already started availing of its services.
Jenitta, who was born at Emayam village, near Marthandam in Kanyakumari, studied at the St Charles home at Pampanvilai near Nagercoil from third standard to eighth standard and at the CSI polio home, Neyar, till Plus-Two.
She studied B.com and MBA finance and was initially appointed as a manager with the Union Bank of India, Tirunelveli branch, in 2010. She was selected in the general quota at the age of 23 without any benefits as a differently-gifted person for the job.
She was married to Libin Kurian of Kottayam in 2014. After her marriage, she visited the St Charles home in 2015 to see the old inmates of her hostel where the physically and mentally challenged people are accommodated
She realised that a few of the inmates were finding it difficult to get proper partners. “This inspired me to launch the matrimonial site exclusively for the differently-abled persons,” Jenitta told this newspaper. Libin Kurian is a manufacturer of ayurveda products and he supported her decision to start the matrimonial site. The couple aim to give even financial assistance to those who find it difficult to fund their marriage. Eight staff members of his company are assisting her to run the site. Currently, the office is functioning at their house at Channanikadu near Kottayam. They have an eight-month-old baby, San Elaijah.
