Hyderabad: T. Anitha, the XII Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge at Nampally, sentenced a 36-year-old man to rigorous life imprisonment of raping his teenage daughter on multiple occassions as a result of which she became pregnant, at Jubilee Hills in the city in July 2021.
The sentence means that the convict would be in prison for the rest of his natural life. The judge also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000. Judge Anitha awarded Rs 7 lakh as compensation to the victim.
In another case reported at Mangalhat in the city in May 2022, the judge sentenced the accused Belangolu Dhanraj, a labourer, to rigorous imprisonment for 20 years and a fine of `1,000.
In both cases, the victim’s testified before the court how the accused had sexually assaulted them. Their mothers also gave in support of the victims.
In the first case, the accused, after his wife went to work, drugged the victim, then 13, and assaulted her. He would even send her to their hometown and taking advantage of this, sexually assaulted the girl repeatedly and threatened her of dire consequences if she revealed it to her mother.
This came to light after the girl was found pregnant. In this case, along with the victim and her mother, the accused’s own brother also gave a statement against him, resulting in proving his guilt.
In the second case, the accused called the victim, then 5, into his home under the pretext of giving her mobile phone to play games, stripped her and assaulted her.
