Hyderabad will host the International Conference for Jurists in September
HYDERABAD: Hyderabad will host the International Conference of Jurists in September this year, according to the Supreme Court Bar Association president Dr Adish C Aggarwala, who is also president of the International council of Jurists.
The two-day conference will be held on September 16 and 17 and more than 100 judges and jurists from various countries and more than 100 from across the country will participate in the programme.
Aggarwala on Saturday visited the Telangana High Court Bar Association. He hoped that the Telangana government would give support to conduct the conference.
“The purpose behind this event is to promote brotherhood among judges and jurists all over the world and derive strength from each other,” Aggarwala said. “In the era of allowing international law firms to practice in various countries, the conference is important and interaction with the jurists would help to better understand this.”
He also explained how the display system in the courts, which shows the running cases, has been adopted in various countries. The idea was from the Lahore High Court of Pakistan, he said to illustrate how such interactions work.
Judges, lawyers, parliamentarians, law teachers and law reporters all come under the definition of jurists. In its 2012 conference at London, the ICJ included chartered accountants in the list, he said.
Interaction and exchange of views between jurists of various countries and cultures would benefit all the jurists because they would try to emulate good practices prevailing in various countries.
Advocate-General B.S. Prasad, who participated in the programme, assured all logistic help to conduct the international event. Telangana High Court Advocates Association president Palle Nageshwara Rao, vice-president Chengalva Kalyan Rao, secretaries K. Pradeep Reddy and Puli Devender participated.
