Minister Vidadala Rajini launches 65 e-autos in Vizag

VISHAKHAPATNAM: Minister for health and family welfare Vidadala Rajini and Mayor G. Hari Venkata Kumari launched 65 e-vehicles for clearing solid waste at a function held at RK Beach in Visakhapatnam on Saturday. Local MP M.V.V. Satyanarayana and MLA were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajini said the vehicles were launched towards creating a sustainable environment. The funds for e –autos and battery swapping centres were provided under the 'Urban Climate Change Resilience Trust Fund' of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Visakhapatnam Chennai Industrial Corridor Development Programme (VCICDP).

Three full functional swapping cum service station facilities were inaugurated to cater to the city's electric vehicle. These stations are located at Shanti Ashram Marg (offering 120 battery swapping slots), Town Kotha Road (60 battery swapping slots) and Mudasarlova (with an additional 60 battery swapping slots), boast high capacity, guaranteeing efficient service to meet the rising demand.

Over the next five years, this groundbreaking initiative is projected to save approximately 64.2 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions, promoting cleaner air and a healthier local environment.

The benefits of the battery-swapping system extend beyond convenience. With reduced waiting times and uninterrupted operation, electric vehicle owners can seamlessly continue their journeys, promoting sustainable transportation. Additionally, garbage vehicles can optimise their operations by ensuring uninterrupted waste collection, contributing to a cleaner city.
