Kurnool: Families who fled faction-hit villages count their blessings
KURNOOL: About 20 years ago, some families were forced to relocate because of the threat posed by faction leaders wielding political influence. They lost their homes, land, friends, relatives and everything that was familiar to them. Their lives changed, but it seems to have been for the best. Faction-hit families who moved to towns like Nandyal, Kurnool, and Tirupati seem to be happy with the way things have turned out.
A family was forced to leave Kondasunkesula village 22 years ago due to faction-related threats. They settled in Nandyal, as a result of which they were able to offer their children good education. Venkat Reddy, whose daughter is now living in California, says his family’s fortunes have changed ever since they left their village. Most of the families who left their villages have been able to find good matches for their sons and daughters.
