Vijayawada airport ranked ninth in non-metro areas, which is better than Hyderabad city.
Vijayawada airport director G. Madhusudana Rao said that necessary instructions had been issued to the airport staff.
Hyderabad: When compared to other airports in the non-metro category, Vijayawada, Rajahmundry and Visakhapatnam figured amongst the top 10 in the study taken up by the School of Planning and Architecture in terms of time taken to reach the airport. The bottlenecks from Vijayawada to the Gannavaram airport also included several accident prone areas on the 25-km stretch. The route had an average speed of 33.8 kmph.
The comparative lower speed affected the city’s ranking. Vijayawada airport got the fourth rank in speed after Goa (35.5 kmph), Srinagar (35 kmph) and Udaipur (33.8 kmph). Vijayawada airport ranked ninth in non-metro areas, which is better than Hyderabad city.
