Poonjar probe report by August end
KOTTAYAM: The CPM commission of Baby John that looked into the LDF's electoral debacle in Poonjar will submit its report by the month-end. The party's state secretariat on June 7 had asked him to find out factors behind the erosion of votes. Mr John had visited Kottayam on a few occasions and reportedly discussed the issue with the district leadership. But he is yet to visit the constituency.
“I hope I would be able to submit the report by the end of this month,” he told DC.
Though the party had not included the recent death of party activist K.N. Nazeer, allegedly murdered at Erattupetta for complaining that some leaders had a role, it will also inevitably come under its purview.
The vote share of the LDF had come down almost by half to benefit P.C. George, the winner. In the 2011 elections, LDF independent candidate Mohan Thomas had bagged 44, 105 votes in a direct fight with him when he was in the UDF.
