Dasara gift: 2BHK houses to be allotted to eligible poor in Adilabad

ADILABAD: District officials are planning to distribute 2BHK to the eligible poor as there is huge pressure on the political leaders and district officials from the applicants. Officials are planning to distribute the completed 2BHK on the occasion of the Dasara (Dussehra) festival in the erstwhile Adilabad district.

District officials are planning to complete 2BHK for those who do have houses and are living in rented houses and did not get the Indiramma houses. Nirmal Municipality officials are preparing the lists of candidates who applied for the 2BHK in 42 wards of the municipality.

In the recently held review meeting, Nirmal collector Musharraf Ali Faruqui instructed the officials concerned to thoroughly check the applications and select the genuine eligible candidates for the 2BHK. The collector asked the officials concerned to check whether the applicants are eligible for the 2BHK by verifying whether they have food security cards or not, are staying in rented houses, orphaned families, or outstees under any development project.

According to official sources, tenders called for the construction of 3,118 2BHK while sanctioned for 3,381. The tender process was completed for the construction of 1,757 2BHK, while the construction of 478 2BHK has been completed so far in the Adilabad district.

There was a huge demand for the distribution of 2BHK as there was a huge delay in the distribution, though their construction was completed in some places.

Applicants are mounting pressure on the local political leaders for the allocation of 2BHK. Some local TRS leaders are asking the applicants to go and occupy the 2BHK, and such a thing happened in Utnoor.

There are allegations that local TRS leaders who got some money promising them to allocate 2 BHK were not asking them to go and occupy them before officials allocated them to the eligible poor.

In Adilabad, some Congress leaders asked the applicants to occupy the 2BHK near KRK colony. The incident of poor people occupying 2BHK took place in Mancherial town.

Some families have already occupied and stayed in the completed 20 2BHK units out of a total of 33 in the Mangrode in Bela mandal. There are strong allegations that local TRS leaders only put these families in 2BHK from whom they have collected money. 2BHK houses were also constructed in KRK colony, Mavala, and Jainad mandal in the Adilabad district.
