Kerala: Shradha' set to teach a new lesson

Separate methodology for below-average students devised

KOZHIKODE: The state education department has launched a new project named 'Shradha' targeting the below-average students to improve the academic standards of school education. A separate methodology for below-average students has been devised as part of the new project. It will kickstart on October 24 and last till February 25 at each government and aided school in the state. Special training and orientation classes, special classes and workshop will be made available for selected students. Teachers will be appointed to keep track of the students in their respective schools.

"After each term of the training session, the report analysis based on the performance of these children will be taken and special files will be made to track them," said Mr N. Ashraf, officer with the department of general education. In the first phase, the project is meant for the students of 5th, 8th and 10th standards.

The best school implementing the project, the best student performing and showing improvement, best teacher to initiate the project most efficiently and the best educational sub- districts will be selected and honoured at the end of each academic year, he added. The major objective is to improve the pass percentage in the 10th and higher secondary examinations. The school PTA, management, people's representatives and former students of the school will be part of the project for its efficient implementation.
