Harish: Improve OP theatres at TVVP Hospitals

The minister said some TVVP hospitals had more specialist doctors than required while others had none, and this should be rectified

Hyderabad: Health minister T Harish Rao directed officials to improve the condition at operation theatres, have better sanitation and provide a good diet for patients at all Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (TVVP) hospitals.

Speaking at an online review meeting on Sunday, Harish Rao said the government was implementing a policy and the allowance for sanitation had been increased from Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,500 per bed and diet allowance from Rs 40 to Rs 80.

"It should be ensured that the salaries of the sanitation and diet contract bill employees are paid on time. Any delay is the responsibility of the hospital superintendents. The government will take action if payments are delayed," he said.

The minister said some TVVP hospitals had more specialist doctors than required while others had none, and this should be rectified. Every hospital should have an infection control unit along with an officer and a nurse.

A review of operation theatres should be conducted every Monday, he said. Warning that strict action would be taken if anyone demanded money from patients, he said superintendents have the powers to take action and if there was no change in the behaviour of the staff, strict action would be taken against them.
