Kakinada Advocates boycott courts in protest of Bar Council decision
Kakinada: Advocates of Ramachandrapuram and Kakinada Bar Associations boycotted their court duties on Monday in protest of the decision of the Bar Council of Andhra Pradesh to require the affixing of a Rs. 20 AP Advocates' Welfare Fund stamp on all petitions.
Kakinada advocates, led by their Bar Association president Muthinti Visweswara Rao, staged a dharna and raised slogans against the AP Bar Council decision. The Bar secretary Chekka Srinivasa Rao and others were present.
At Ramachandrapuram, the advocates, led by their Bar Association president Pilli Murali Mohan and V.Sai Prasad, registered their protest against the Bar Council's decision. Murali Mohan said that the Ramachandrapuram Bar Association has decided to boycott court duties for three days from October 9 to 11. Sai Prasad said that the Bar Council should reconsider its decision and reduce the burden on the petitioners.
