Lata Mangeshkar\'s family fulfils her last wish with donation to Tirumala Lord
TIRUPATI: Fulfilling the late legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar's last wishes, her family has donated a sum of Rs 10 lakh to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) on her behalf.
In a letter to the TTD, Mangeshkar's family informed the temple trust about her expressed desire to donate Rs 10 lakh in her will. Her sister, Usha Mangeshkar, personally requested the TTD's board member from Mumbai, Milind Keshav Narvekar, to hand over the contribution to the temple on behalf of the Mangeshkar family. On Monday, Narvekar handed over the donation cheque to the TTD executive officer A.V. Dharma Reddy, in the presence of TTD chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy at Tirumala.
Lata Mangeshkar was a devoted follower of Lord Venkateswara. She had even served as the Tirupati trust's court musician in the past. In 2010, she rendered approximately 10 Tallapaka Annamacharya Sankeertanas, which were recorded by TTD's S.V. recording project and subsequently released as audio CDs titled "Annamayya Swara Latharchana".
