Pondicherry University students lodge complaint against professor
Puducherry: Postgraduate students of Pondicherry University have registered a complaint against an assistant professor of the university for making obscene comments on girl students.
The complaint was lodged with college authorities last week by the students of food science and nutrition of the university in which the students alleged that one of the professors of the department called the department a ‘brothel house’.
The complaint was registered against K.V. Sunooj by the second year postgraduation students of the department “He (the professor) openly said in class that our girls are available in hotels. If some parents ask him about their children’s educational progress he questions their dignity and chastity by making up stories, and one of our classmates is a victim of his fabricated story,” the complaint letter addressed to the Vice Chancellor, registrar and woman cell of the university, said.
“Students are afraid to make a complaint because the professor threatens them that he would not give them internal marks if someone makes any complaints,” Ankita (name changed), student told DC.
The complaint letter also says that the professor is partial in his evaluation and guidance. M. Ramachandran, registrar in charge of the university, when contacted, said authorities had received the complaint. “The university has started the enquiry based on the complaint and will take stern actions if the professor is found guilty.”
