Missing 3-year boy traced in a day

Vijayawada: Bapatla police have traced a minor boy within a day of his going missing, district superintendent of police Vakul Jindal announced on Wednesday, congratulating Chirala Two Town police for their prompt action.

The SP said on the night of Monday, November 7, Sheikh Baji, residing at Masjid Centre in Perala, came to Chirala Two Town Police Station along with family members complaining that his three-year-old son Sheikh Malik had gone missing from home. Their attempts to find him had proved futile.

Police registered a case and took up investigations under supervision of Chirala sub-divisional police officer P. Sreekanth. A team with woman sub-inspector (WSI) Ch. Chandrawati took up the task of examining CCTV footage of the surrounding areas. A second team led by SI Suresh started searching for the boy at Chirala railway station, bus stand and other areas.

WSI Chandravathi’s team led by woman police Anita, head constable Bajeeth and constables Ahmed Basha and Subba Rao traced Sheikh Malik in Ramalayam Street of Perala on Tuesday, November 8. The team of SI Suresh immediately took the boy into their safe custody and handed him over to his parents.

Vakul Jindal advised parents that if there are small children at home, they should not be left alone. Children do not know what is happening and there is a possibility of them meeting with accidents in case they go out and start playing on the roads.

“Parents should take proper precautions in advance, rather than worrying later,” the SP remarked.
