Finger Print Bureau Which Helped in Detecting a Murder Case, Wins Second Position

Hyderabad: The Finger Print Bureau under the Telangana CID has been adjudged the second best in the country for smart use of fingerprint science in investigation of an theft case that ended up in the death of an aged couple.

The case was investigated by the Nelakondapally police of Khammam. The accused offered prasadam laced with sedatives to the victims, and looted their house after they fell unconscious. The victims, an elderly couple, died due to overdose. Inspector B. Naresh of the Finger Print Bureau, CID, Khammam, developed partial chance prints at the crime scene and matching them with the fingerprints of the accused.

The accused, Yoginder, was later arrested and sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for seven years. The Union home ministry presented the award to the team during the 24th All India Conference of Finger Print Bureau at NCRB, New Delhi.

DGP Anjani Kumar felicitated the team on Thursday. CID Chief Mahesh M Bhagwat said that the award is a recognition of the Finger Print Bureau’s commitment to excellence.
