Ooty: As traffic snarls caused by the haphazard parking of daily delivery service(DDS) trucks have begun to irk the residents in the hills here, voices have begun to grow louder for proper action to control the menace from these trucks in regulating traffic in the busy summer tourist season in the hills.Calling for action on this front, Mr. .S. Jayachandran, a senior citizen here and also joint secretary of the Tamilnadu Green Movement, said that the DDS trucks in good numbers from neighbouring Coimbatore, Erode and Tirupur districts always bring consignments to the hills and these heavily loaded trucks keep moving in the major roads in the Ooty town limits.
The drivers of these trucks often stop as they wish in the main roads or park in the road sides to deliver the consignments in the espective areas.
He further said that the cops should make arrangements to ensure that all these DDS trucks were made to park in a particular area or in their respective godowns, and from there small vehicles or jeeps should be used to deliver the consignment/parcels. If this was done, the menace from DDS trucks could be brought down, he suggested.
