Operational issues: Alliance Air cancels 8 flights to & from Hyderabad
Hyderabad: A day after it cancelled eight flights to and from Hyderabad without notice, leaving passengers stranded, Alliance Air could not come up with an explanation on Tuesday on why it had done so.
The airlines’ Twitter handle was flooded with posts from angry passengers, who had to miss their appointments or connecting flights.
Nandini Soman Tweeted, “Worst airline service provider. We had booked a ticket from Delhi to Indore (for Monday). When I arrived at the airport, the employees informed me that your flight had been cancelled. They were quite rude and disrespectful. We informed them that we had children with us, but they refused to provide water as well.”
Meanwhile Deccan Chronicle reached out to senior officials of the airline who said it was too early to comment on this issue. The media unit would revert on the issue, they said.
Alliance Air, a subsidiary of Air India till last January, is in a crisis. During the Covid-19 pandemic, when flights were cancelled, Alliance Air had effected a pay cut for its pilots. Their salaries have not been restored.
The pilots are constantly asking the management to restore the pre-pandemic salary. A question on the issue was posted by the Twitter handle Avi@avitri400. Restoration of minimum guaranteed payment of 70 hours is one of the demands, the pilots put in front of the management a month ago.
