Time of generosity, spiritual introspection, says Anand

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad city police organised an interfaith Iftar at the Chowmahalla palace here on Monday, in which around 2,000 people from different faiths, government officials, politicians, civil society, and religious leaders took part. Home Minister Mahmood Ali and Director General of Police Anjani Kumar also participated in the event.

Before the call to prayer marking the end of the daily Ramzan fast, city police chief C.V. Anand greeted guests and highlighted the prominence of the holy month which calls to come together to give charitably to the poor.

“It is a time of generosity, reverence, and spiritual introspection,” he said. He then explained the bandobast measures at mosques, and shopping areas during the month of Ramzan and commended the support and cooperation of the community to city police.

Citing a recent report on the prowess of Telangana in rapidly progressing in several spheres, and a steep rise in per capita income, Anand lauded the foresight of the state government and said that it embraces all faiths equally.
