VIJAYAWADA: The police are investigating the case of suspicious death of engineering third-year student Jeevan Kumar from “all angles” to ascertain whether it was a suicide or murder.
"During the investigation, we came to know that Jeevan was addicted to alcohol. On May 8th, his father gave him money to pay for an EMI but he spent it for some other needs. Hence, the father scolded him," Krishna district SP Palle Jashua said.
The SP said Jeevan left his house to attend the friend’s party on May 9 evening. Jeevan took the bike of a friend, went to Yanamalakuru and took petrol in a bottle from a petrol bunk. He had put the status as ”Today Is Last Day” on his Instagram social media platform.
Meanwhile, some activists have expressed suspicion over the death by saying they doubted whether it was self-immolation.
