Kozhikode: While intelligence officials are struggling to identify the location of instagram, whatsapp messages sent from the missing youth from the state who suspected to have joined IS, experts pointed out that such ultra outfits increasingly turn to such communication networks as it is easy to fool probing eye of security agencies.
An expert who preferred anonymity told Deccan Chronicle that a person staying in Afghanistan of Sri Lanka can send whatsapp messages using his mobile number as if he is staying in India. So it is tough to identify the geographical location of the person in a foolproof way, it was pointed out.
On the communication and indoctrination forums, he said the ultra outfits like IS also use independent whatsapp versions of their own make which is tough to access. The elite forums use local Arabic language for communication. Most of them use up to six layers of communication network and Admins of each group would be a member of the higher layer thus passing information from one to other. The lower layers of these groups would be in local language and there are many Malayalam groups that serve as recruiting forums.
Most of the ultra elements in FB have now migrated to such whatsapp and instagram forums as they are safer. Many of the FB forums served as venues for Islamic indoctrination were already under the scanner of intelligence agencies. Though the security sleuths have managed to penetrate into the FB forums with Muslim identity, most of the closed instagram, whatsapp forums are still evasive, it was pointed out.
