Chakali Ailamma a symbol of woman power: Minister
NIZAMABAD: The 38th death anniversary of Chityala Ailamma popularly known as Chakali Ailamma was commemorated by the state government’s backward classes department in Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts on Sunday.
Ailamma is known for her courageous role in the Telangana Armed Struggle against the then Nizam government.
Minister for Roads and Buildings V. Prashanth Reddy paid floral tributes to the statue of Ailamma at Velpur mandal headquarters on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that Ailamma is a symbol of women's power and self-consciousness of backward sections.
Zilla Parishad chairman Dadannagari Vittal Rao garlanded the statue of Ailamma at Vinayaknagar in Nizamabad while, in Kamareddy, collector Jitesh V. Patil offered floral tributes to the statue of the revolutionary fighter.
Telangana turmeric Farmers Association president Kotapati Narasimham Naidu, District Cooperative Central Bank vice chairman Ramesh Reddy, social activist Narala Sudhakar, and Rajaka community leaders took part in the event.
