JAS reaching remotest places in agency area, says Deputy CM

Visakhapatnam: Health camps being conducted under Jagananna Arogya Suraksha (JAS) scheme have reached remotest of the places in Parvathipuram Manyam district, deputy chief minister Peedika Rajanna Dora underlined on Tuesday.

Talking to this correspondent, Dora said since the launch of the scheme, 50,000 people have already attended the camps. More are expected to do so during the next couple of days.

He clarified that initially they could not organise the camps in remote hamlets on the hills due to lack of proper roads. On his advice, district administration made arrangements to bring people to the road point in auto rickshaws.
“This is the best thing about this scheme – reaching remote places with doctors, equipment and medicines,” Dora remarked.

Manyam district collector Nishant Kumar said as on Monday 42,964 patients have attended the camps. 16,908 have been examined by specialist doctors. 19,191 lab tests and 865 ECGs have been done so far.

Nishant Kumar visited the JAS camp at Kandulapalem village in Salur mandal on Tuesday. He verified all counters at the camp. He asked doctors to provide health services to the satisfaction of patients. He said this programme is the best for rural people, as services of specialist doctors are available at their doorsteps. 14 types of tests are being conducted at the camps. 172 kinds of medicine are being made available.

The collector later participated in a "seemantham" programme conducted by the women and child welfare department at the Kandulapalem JAS camp. He blessed pregnant women on the occasion.
