Hyderabad: A two-judge bench of the Telangana High Court on Thursday heard inconclusively a petition questioning 85% local reservations for Category-B seats in undergraduate medical and dental courses.
The bench of Chief Justice Ujjay Bhuyan and Justice C.V. Bhasker Reddy was dealing with a writ petition filed by Chinmay Nandkishor Mohod, who questioned the government order amending the Telangana State Un-Aided Minority Professional Institutions Regulations of Admission into Undergraduate Medical and Dental Professional Courses 2017.
The counsel for the petitioner contended that the said action was contrary to Articles 14, 15, 19 and 371 D of the Constitution of India. The counsel pointed to previous instances where such an action was set aside. The bench adjourned the matter by two weeks for further hearing.
