Teacher’s caning leaves student injured near eye
Nellore: A Class IV student of Ravindra Bharathi School in Nellore Two Town area sustained injury near his eye when a female teacher canned him on Wednesday.
According to information, the teacher took the action as the student – Akanksh – had not brought his English homework notebook to school.
The incident came to light on Thursday when the child’s mother, S. Asha, lodged a complaint with Nellore Two Town police on Wednesday night. The mother expressed distress that the teacher had not even taken Akanksh to hospital but kept him in school till evening, even though he was bleeding.
Sub-inspector B. Ramesh Babu said Asha took her son to hospital and thereafter to an ophthalmologist for treatment. She wept inconsolably worrying over the future of her son if he loses his sight.
The SI said they have registered a case and are waiting for the doctor’s report to proceed further in the case.
Meanwhile, the Parents Association of Andhra Pradesh has demanded action against the school. Association Nellore district unit president S. Narahari said the mental condition of the teacher should be examined for behaving in such a manner.
