Amal Jyothi engineering college runs driving school for students, staff
KOTTAYAM: An engineering college in the district has taken the lead in controlling the increasing number of road accidents through practical training. The Amal Jyothi engineering college at Kanjirapally runs a driving school mainly for the students and staff of the college. The public can also avail of the training in the school which was set up on February 2, 2011. The driving classes are handled by two instructors in two cars provided by the college.
Initially, driving classes were taken in the morning and evenings but now they are conducted on Saturdays and Sundays from morning till afternoon. “We give quality driving practice for the students and a few among the staff and charge a reasonable fee of '5,500,” Mr J.P. Ajith Kumar, assistant professor of the department of automobile engineering who is charge of the driving school told DC. At present 25 students are being given training and 400 persons have studied there so far. The driving test will be held on the college ground by the officials concerned.
