HC to take up cancellation of land allotted to IMG Bharat on December 27
Hyderabad: The division bench of the Telangana High Court, comprising Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Anil Kumar Jukanti, on Monday said it would hear the case related to cancellation of land allotted to IMG Bharat Pvt Ltd on December 27.
In 2006, Billy Rao of IMG Academies Bharat Pvt Ltd firm filed a petition challenging the decision of the AP government to cancel the land allotment to the company. The TD government had in 2003 allotted 850 acres in the outskirts of Hyderabad to the company to develop standard sports facilities. Three years later, the Congress government called it a scam and cancelled the land allotment and the MoU.
The petition has been pending since 2016 and the same has been heard by three separate benches of the High Court. In the meantime, several PILs were filed questioning the land allotment by the TD government.
IMG Bharat counsel Vedula Venkat Ramana said that the undivided AP state government unilaterally cancelled their MoU and the Telangana state too had been supporting it. He requested the court to dispose of the matter.
On the request of the state government, which said that the case will be represented by the Advocate General, the bench adjourned the matter to December 27.
The bench also observed that one should be cognizant that it is an old matter and avoid asking for further adjournments.
