Warangal: A second year BSc Agriculture student was found dead in her hostel room at the SR University in Annasagaram of Hasanparthy mandal in Hanamkonda district on Friday.
Circle inspector Gopi identified the student as Deepth Singh Tagore, a native of Mancherial district and daughter of a government employee inc the revenue department.
With the university declaring holidays for Sankranti, most students left for home except those who were appearing for examinations to clear their backlogs.
On Thursday, the university announced the results of the first year (two semesters) examinations. It was learnt from university officials that Deepthi was feeling stressed and had had failed in some subjects.
On Friday morning, some of her friends went to Deepthi’s room to call her for breakfast but she did not open the door. They informed the officials who broke open the door and found her body. They called the police.
Police officials informed her family and shifted the body to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) Hospital for postmortem. On a complaint registered by Deepthi’s parents, police registered a case, took charge of her phone and started an investigation.
