Ballari district stands second in nationwide organ donation pledge registration
Ballari: In a remarkable triumph over prevailing hesitancy, Ballari district in Karnataka has emerged as a beacon of hope and generosity, securing the second position nationwide in organ donation pledge registrations.
Battling societal reluctance, the Ballari district in Kalyana Karnataka (Hyderabad Karnataka) region has turned the Organ Pledge registration initiative into a monumental campaign. Ballari's commitment to the cause is noteworthy, resulting in an impressive 3561 registrations (as on Jan 12th afternoon)—the second-highest in the country. At present Ranga Reddy district in Telangana tops in the country with 3,921 registrations.
The Organ Pledge registration initiative, launched on September 17 and ongoing until March 21, has garnered significant attention, especially due to the dedicated efforts of Ballari district officials, who have transformed it into a massive campaign.
Breaking down the numbers, officials reported that 1,823 males and 1,738 females have pledged to donate organs. The most noteworthy statistic is the overwhelming response from the 30-45 age group, with 1,707 individuals registering their commitment. Additionally, 886 people in the 18-30 age group and 722 individuals in the 45-60 age group have expressed their willingness to donate organs. Remarkably, 246 senior citizens have also joined the cause.
"We have taken it as a campaign. Our officials and staff have also registered their names. The response of the people is also good. Special drive is held in the district every Friday," District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr Y Ramesh Babu told Deccan Chronicle.
Among the 17,362 registrations across Karnataka, Ballari district leads with 3561 registrations, followed by Dharwad (1942) and Kolar (1460). On Friday alone (till afternoon), 146 new registrations were recorded in Ballari.
This noteworthy achievement by Ballari district has earned commendation from the health department.
In the country Rangareddy district of Telangana tops with 3921 registrations followed by Ballari (3,561) and Bhopal (3240) registration.
