Anantapur: The Kadapa District Sessions Court on Friday sentenced life imprisonment to three persons in the case of murder of a degree student at Chintala Cheruvu in Badvel mandal in Kadapa district on June 18, 2021.
The murder took place after the girl student, Godugunur Sirisha, 19, ignored an offer of love.
Sirisha was studying second-year graduation. As per the case, she was being harassed by Balaraju Charan of Chinarajupalle in Atlur mandal, in the name of love, even after she rejected his proposal. Charan hatched a plan to eliminate Sirisha and used assistance of his friends Nayab Rasool of Chintala Cheruvu and P Narasimha of Madapur.
The girl was staying in the village during holidays and engaged in cultivation practices to assist her parents.
After watching her moments, the three youths hatched a plan and attacked her in the agriculture fields. They stabbed her 24 times. Her sister, Sushmitha, shouted for help but the accused three ran away from the scene. Sirisha died on the spot.
Police registered the case based on a complaint from her father. The Kadapa district sessions court judge G Sreedevi pronounced the verdict.
