POLLS: Police Check Posts at All Key Centres, Especially in Border Regions of AP
Vijayawada: Chief Secretary to the AP Government, K.S. Jawahar Reddy, has directed all district collectors and SPs to complete all the arrangements on time to hold the general elections in AP in a free and transparent manner.
The CS conducted a video conference with the DGP, senior officials of various departments and collectors and reviewed the arrangements. He reviewed the setting up of polling stations and stressed that all these works should be completed by January 25.
He said the construction of ramps at all the polling centres should be done properly, along with provision for lights, fans, furniture, drinking water and toilets.
The DGP later said issues such as curbing illegal liquor flow, strong police presence, arrangements for check posts, speedy resolution of pending cases, and filing of charge sheets related to pending cases were discussed at the meeting.
Jawahar Reddy suggested that police check posts should be set up at all key centres, especially in the border areas. He said strong measures should be taken to prevent the illegal transportation of liquor from neighbouring states.
Additional CEO Harindra Prasad, additional DG S Bagchi, commissioner of school education Suresh Kumar, SEBs of all district collectors and others participated in the video conference.
