Revenue Minister, YV Distribute Pattas to Gajuwaka Residents

Visakhapatnam: Revenue minister Dharmana Prasada Rao and YSRC regional coordinator for north Andhra Y.V. Subba Reddy on Friday distributed conveyance deeds to residents of Gajuwaka, who had occupied government lands decades ago, and to those displaced by the steel plant and pharma city, at a function held in Gajuwaka in Visakhapatnam.

Addressing a meeting on the occasion, Prasada Rao said state government has taken a historic decision to give conveyance deeds to 7,026 families, who have been waiting for them for the last four decades.

“Successive governments failed to address this problem of the people. But the YSRC government led by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has regularised these lands,” the minister underlined.

He said as promised in the party manifesto, state government has given 30 lakh houses to homeless and distributed house site pattas as well.

In this context, Prasada Rao asked people not to worry about the Land Titling Act. He pointed out that in the past, several attempts had been made to streamline land ownership deeds. This system will enable people to have total rights over the land.

He disclosed that the central government is also planning to implement the Land Titling Act through the NITI Ayog, because people have been facing land disputes even after investing money on the land for taking up projects.

The minister said revenue records are being updated in 17,000 villages, so that no disputes arise in the future. After completion of survey and updating of records, a fresh act will be brought out, he added.

Regional coordinator Subba Reddy said the government is regularising lands all over the state, which has not been done by any government in the past.

Collector A. Mallikarjuna said while 7,026 families have received conveyance deeds in Gajuwaka, another 6,260 such deeds have been distributed in the entire district. Similarly, 39 families that gave away their lands for steel plant and 40 families, which parted with their land for pharma city, have also been given conveyance deeds.

Gajuwaka MLA Tippala Nagi Reddy said Rs 1,500 crore worth lands have been regularised by the YSRC government in Gajuwaka on Friday.
