Telangana, Maharashtra meet on tigers in Jan 3rd week
Hyderabad: Forest and wildlife officials from Telangana state and Maharashtra will meet in the third week of January to discuss measures to increase inter-state coordination for tiger monitoring and conservation, it was announced on Friday.
The meeting was ordered by the National Tiger Conservation Authority following the discovery of two dead tigers in January first week in KB Asifabad district bordering Maharashtra.
On Friday, Chief Wildlife Warden M.C. Pargaien spoke with his Maharashtra counterpart Maheep Gupta about the meeting. Officials from both states are expected to also discuss the important issue of securing habitat and corridor forest areas connecting tiger reserves in Maharashtra and the Kawal tiger reserve in Telangana.
