TS HC Restrains GHMC from Laying Road at Bandlaguda

Hyderabad: Justice T. Vinod Kumar of the Telangana High Court restrained the GHMC from laying a 25-feet road at Bandlaguda, Chandrayangutta, and directed it to consider representations for demarcating the road within two weeks.

The judge made the order in a writ petition filed by Confederation of Voluntary Associations (COVA). It complained that when construction of a boundary wall had begun, some people claiming to be employees of GHMC threatened the petitioner of dire consequences if it failed to leave more than 30 ft. on the east side and 25 ft. on the south side.

The petitioner contended that thereafter numerous representations were given to the authorities for demarcation of the road, which went unheeded.

Senior counsel L. Ravichander contended that repeated representations to the civic authorities went in vain and also jeopardised the interest of the petitioner since the authorities were threatening to lay a road in the land owned by COVA.

The judge faulted the authorities for not disposing of the representations of the petitioners, which were being made since February 2022. However, considering the submissions, the judge directed GHMC to refrain from laying of 25 feet road without considering the representations of the petitioner for demarcation.
