Pay dues or I'll kill myself: Karnataka govt official
Bengaluru: A distraught technician who is employed at a Primary Health Centre in Sirsi taluk, and has not been paid for ten long months made a shocking request on Saturday - if he isn't paid immediately, he would like to end his life through euthanasia in front of his office at the Karnataka Aids Prevention Society on Sivananda Circle on Monday.
The euthanasia request by Prashanth K.R., the troubled Integrated Counseling & Testing Centre (ICTC) technician was tagged on the Facebook wall of IAS officer Shalini Rajneesh, Principal Secretary to Government Health & Family Welfare Department.
In a post addressed to Project Director, Karnataka Aids Prevention Society (KAPS), Bengaluru and tagged to Mrs. Rajneesh, Prashanth says “Amma, Dayavittu Kshamisi (Ma’am, please pardon me.)” “I have sent several letters. Except releasing the arrears of six months, no action has been initiated on releasing my salary,” he claims.
Prashanth informed KAPS that if he was not paid his salary, he will opt for euthanasia in front of the office of KAPS on Monday. Sources in KAPS said salary for all technicians and counselors was released on Friday but “technicians appointed under the National Rural Health Mission (NHM) are facing salary related issues,” said an officer requesting anonymity.
