All India mango fest opens in Krishnagiri
Krishnagiri: The 26th all India mango festival has been inaugurated by the State Youth and sports Development minister P. Balakrishna Reddy.
The festival which started on Sunday late evening here at the government boys high school ground will be open till July 8. Over 130 stalls including 50 opened by the government departments, exhibiting the welfare schemes of the state, are the major attractions of this unique exhibition.
Besides, this mango festival also gives opportunity for the visitors to have a glimpse of over 30 locally grown mango varieties at one place. A separate place was also allotted for the mango growers to display their produce for the competition. The judges to be appointed will select the best crop for the prize.
The exhibition also has other interesting aspects are the replica of Taj Mahal found in the stall of the district Horticulture department. This model was made out of 14 varieties of species. Other attraction in the stall is the dolls made of fresh roses, dragon and others made BY using the vegetables produced in Krishnagiri. The minister, after inaugurating the exhibition handed over cheques for welfare schemes worth ' 56.20 lakh to 348 beneficiaries. Mr. Balakrishna Reddy, along with various district officials, also visited the stalls opened at the exhibition venue.
