Missing girl reunited after 18 years with the help of Darpan App
HYDERABAD: The city police recently found a girl from Kurnool who had gone missing in 2005 when she was just five years of age: The girl, now 18 years of age, had been residing in a children's home.
The breakthrough came with the help of the Darpan app, based on face recognition technology. which has helped reunite 36 missing children with their loved ones.
In another instance, the Darpan app help find a girl who had gone missing two years ago.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, inspector Srinivas Mityalu of the Anti Human Trafficking Unit said the app has comprehensive details of all missing, unidentified, and unregistered children below 18 years of age. It works with artificial intelligence (AI). The database contains information on both missing children and children residing in various homes.
The details are shared with entities such as the child welfare committee (CWC), the deputy commissioner of Police (DCP), homes, the district welfare officer (DWO), and the police. Earlier tooks suffered from technical errors that limited its ability to locate missing children.
The families of those individuals were jubilant upon finding their lost children. A family member of the 18-year-old girl, Yadaiah from Kurnool, said they had never imagined they would see their daughter again. "It has been almost two years since I last saw my daughter," Yadaiah said.
