Onam, Bakrid celebration spirit grips schools in Thiruvananthapuram
Thiruvananthapuram: Pongummodu Infant Jesus central school celebrated Onam on Friday during which children performed Thrivathirakali.
Arts and Maths club: The Arts and Maths Club was inaugurated in Mar Thoma English Medium School by Principal Father Jijo T. Mutheri. He addressed the gathering. PTA President, Mr. V. Vijayan attended. Models made by students were displayed.
Onam and Bakrid Kits: To inculcate the habit of serving the poor and needy and also to make students aware of the importance of social values, SSNSS School, Varkala distributed Onam and Bakrid Kit 6 to the selected 21 persons in cooperation with Paliative Care Unit, Taluk Hospital, Varkala. Smt. Bindu Haridas, Chairperson, Municipality Varkala inaugurated the programme. School Manager, Sreemath Rhithambharananda Swamikal, General Secretary SNDST, Education Standing Committee Chairperson Geetha Hemachandran, Health Inspector Manamboor Health Centre Ajith P V, and Principal Lariza Kuttappan were felicitated. Kumari Reshma welcomed the gathering and Kumari Ayisha Sithara proposed the vote of thanks.
Cultural Educational workshop: The Union Ministry of Culture and Vidya Bharati Samskrithi Shiksha Bhavan jointly organized a two-day educational workshop on awareness, presentation and development of Indian culture and heritage at Puthiyakavu Central School, Puthiyakavu. The programme was inaugurated by Kathakali artist and Padmabhushan awardee Madavoor Vasudevan Nair.
SPC Units: A three-day camp of the SPC unit of Dr GR Public School Neyyattinkara was inaugurated by K Ansalan MLA. In his address, he advocated cadets to be vigilant against social injustices. School Managing Trustee Sister Mythili was the Chief Guest. Neyyattinkara C.I Mr. G Santhosh Kumar, Principal Mr. Maria Joe Jagadesh, Trust secretary Adv. R S Harikumar, PTA President Mr. M K Prameesh, Manager Mr. P Ravishankar, D.I Mr. Anil M.S, W.D.I Mrs. Asha, C.P.O Mr. K Suresh Babu, A.C.P.O Ms. Libiya Varghese Staff and parents were present. Sister Mythili’s 70th Birth Anniversary was also celebrated during the function.
Teacher’s day: MGM RPS, Kottarakara celebrated Teachers' Day function in a grand manner. The Student Councilors from classes XI and XII arranged their panel of members to act as a Principal and Teachers of the school. The Student teachers took the responsibility of teaching students of classes KG- VIII for two consecutive periods. They also took on the responsibility of adding their bit to the entertainment programmes arranged for the teaching fraternity. A student of standard XII dressed as Dr. S. Radhakrishnan delivered a message and inaugurated the entertainment programme.
Teachers’ day: Students of M R Mohamed Kunju Memorial Muslim Higher Secondary School, Edvava celebrated Teacher’s day by assuming charge of the school for the day. Bhima R Sunil of Class ten assumed the role of headmistress and Aisha R Sunil, the role of PTA president.
