Ten MBBS students suspended for ragging in Gandhi Medical College
HYDERABAD: Ten MBBS students from Gandhi Medical College were suspended by the director of medical education Dr K Ramesh Reddy, for indulging in ragging activities by the director of medical education, on Monday.
The DME said that all ten students were suspended after the anti-ragging committee conducted an enquiry and found them at fault for indulging in ragging with junior students.
The decision was informed to the University Grants Commission and also National Medical Council by the DME.
Sources told Deccan Chronicle that five students from the 2021 batch and another five from the 2022 batch were suspended as complaints were raised against them by juniors from the 2023 batch for ragging.
The DME warned students in all medical colleges – both private and government that there would be zero tolerance towards ragging and strict actions would be taken against them under the anti-ragging laws.
The National Medical College in a circular has asked medical colleges across the country to ensure strict action against ragging against the offenders under Prevention and Prohibition of Ragging in Medical Colleges and Institution, Regulations, 2021.
