HYDERABAD: AIMIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi welcomed the TRS government’s action of revamping pension schemes for the aged, widows and disabled and urged the government to release the Aasara pension amounts that have not been paid for months.
In a letter addressed to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, Akbaruddin Owaisi pointed out that pensions were not released in time and were sometimes pending for two to three months at a stretch. He also brought to the CM’s notice that there was also a delay in issue of pension cards to those in the 57 years plus age-group.
“I request you to kindly instruct the officials concerned to release the Aasara pensions pending for the last two months and also arrange to release the new identity cards to all eligible pensioners who completed 57 years of age,” he urged.
In a separate letter to the CM, Owaisi urged the government to clear all the dues of imams and muezzinz, who were not paid honorarium of `5000 per month for the past five months. He also requested the Chief Minister to consider raising the honorarium on par with the pay scales of archakas.
