Puducherry: Strongly backing late Jayalalithaa’s long time aide Sasikala, Puducherry AIADMK legislator party leader A. Anbazhagan said that she should become general secretary and lead the party.
“At this juncture when Amma (Jayalalithaa) is not amongst us, Sasikala who was with Jayalalithaa like a ‘shadow’ should lead the party hereafter,” said Mr Anbazhagan. Jayalalithaa was a mother like figure to Sasikala and those who are trying to spoil her image are ‘traitors’, added Mr Anbazhagan. The AIADMK leader said that the party is united and there is no question of any group fight in the party.
He also demanded that the Puducherry cabinet to take a decision to confer Jayalalithaa with ‘Bharath Ratna’ award and forward it to the centre. Welcoming the Supreme Court ruling that it has got all powers to set up the Cauvery management board, Mr Anbazhagan claimed that it was again proved that Jayalalithaa had succeeded in obtaining the rights of the people of Tamil Nadu legally. He urged the territorial administration to maintain good relationship with Tamil Nadu government for the welfare of Puducherry and Karaikkal farmers.
