Police Chief irked as rules not followed

Hyderabad: The Moinabad police on Friday identified the woman whose body was found in Habeebnagar as 22-year-old Tehseen Begum. They said that she had died by suicide as she was upset about some issues with her close friend, a woman.

Her family had filed a missing case but the Habeebnagar police did not register a case. Taking a serious note of this lapse, Hyderabad police commissioner K. Sreenivasa Reddy visited the police station and inquired into the case details.

He also initiated action against a sub-inspector to whom the complaint was assigned for inquiry. It was also learnt that Sreenivasa Reddy issued orders placing the SI under suspension but this could not be confirmed. Tehseen’s family members protested at the PS demanding justice.

Rajendranagar DCP S. Rashmi Perumal said that the case was detected with clues from CCTV camera footage and technical evidence. Tehseen’s body was handed over to her family.

Police said analysis of the footage from a CCTV camera in Yenkepally on Monday, January 8, where her body was found, showed an autorickshaw passing by. Police traced the driver, who told them that a woman had hired his vehicle at Mallepally to go to Moinabad for Rs 1,100.

Initially, she went to her friend’s house in Muradnagar, then to another friend’s room in Royal Colony, Humayunagar. While coming out, carried a tin. She got down from the auto at the spot where she was later found dead.

Inquiries also revealed that a few minutes before taking the extreme step, she spoke to her friend Rahil over the phone and switched it off. Police questioned Rahil and found that due to issues with her friend, Tehseen was depressed.

This incident is close on the heels of a missing case of Sravan Kumar reported at Chaderghat PS, but he died in an accident and his family members came to know of it only after two weeks.
