Contaminated' drinking water irks Chandrayanagutta residents in Hyderabad
HYDERABAD: Residents of Gulshan Iqbal Colony, Chandrayangutta, have complained of water supply being contaminated with sewage and alleged that the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) is not acting on their complaints.
For the past seven days contaminated water is being supplied and locals say they are receiving sewerage through the drinking water pipeline. They pointed out that the water was neither potable nor could it be used for domestic purposes. There are around 75 houses and each of them is compelled to purchase water, the residents added.
Local resident Nusrat Jahan said that they were getting black and sewerage soiled water the smell of which was nauseating. “Our health is at risk. We think that a water pipeline in the area is leaking and drainage water getting mixed with tap water. The Board is showing no interest to address the problem,” Nusrat Jahan said.
