Lok Adalat disposes over 3 lakh pending cases in TS
HYDERABAD: Around 3.03 lakh cases were settled in all the courts in Telangana on Saturday during the National Lok Adalat.
S. Govardhan Reddy, member secretary of the Telangana State Legal Services Authority, said that 2.83 lakh cases were pending, which included 2.81 lakh criminal cases and 2,000 civil matters. Around 20,000 pre-litigation cases were also disposed of. In all the courts situated in Ranga Reddy district alone, 1,20,000 cases were disposed of.
In Telangana High Court, Justice P. Naveen Rao, Justice G. Sri Devi, Justice A. Venkateswar Reddy and former Judge Justice G.V. Seethapathy presided over the Lok Adalat benches that settled 454 cases and awarded Rs 8.5 crores to 860 beneficiaries in the disposed of cases.
Murali Mohan, secretary of Legal Services Authority of city civil courts in Hyderabad, said a total 713 civil pending cases were disposed in all civil courts in Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
Over 55,772 pending cases of Rachakonda police were compounded in the Lok Adalat organised at the metropolitan sessions judge court at Ranga Reddy district. A. Sridevi, district and sessions judge, Nalgonda, R. Thirupathi, district legal services authority secretary, and other judiciary members were present in the adalat where 3,025 IPC cases, 51,318 Disaster Management Act cases and 1,429 drunk driving cases were compounded, the Rachakonda police said.
