CS reviews AP's increasing power demand
Hyderabad: Chief secretary K.S. Jawahar Reddy on Wednesday asked energy officials to ensure power supply as per demand during the current summer, so that AP witnesses no power cuts during the season.
Reviewing the power situation with energy officials, the CS underlined that given the rising temperatures in summer, power demand will go up, including for the farm sector, especially in May. He asked officials to be prepared well in advance for meeting the power demand as and when it increases.
Special chief secretary (Energy) K. Vijayanand responded that based on predictions of the Indian Meteorological Department, they are expecting the power demand to be 240–250 million units per day. He pointed out that they are ready to fulfil the demand up to 240 MUs per day. They will make alternate arrangements if power demand goes up beyond this limit.
Vijayanand said though the demand for power is going up, it is at just 212.33 million units. They are expecting the demand to reach 238.40 million units by April 2023 end.
The special CS disclosed that based on AP Transco Load Forecasting System, they estimate the demand for power one day in advance. They make arrangements for power supply accordingly.
