KAKINADA: The south zone police in Rajamahendravaram have arrested seven persons in connection with the recent suicide of a married couple there.
The couple took loans through the apps and was unable to clear the debt. The operators of the apps harassed the couple and released a morphed nude video linking the couple to it.
The East Godavari police told the media that the couple was harassed and insulted by two loan apps -- Hundi Loan and Speed Loan -- and the arrested persons were behind the two apps.
The accused made bank transactions of `1 crore in recent days. They were changing bank accounts frequently to hoodwink the investigating agencies. Special teams have been deployed to nab those who launched the apps or were behind them.
SP Sudheer Reddy said that the couple took loans through seven types of apps like Handy Loan, Lee Cash, Speed Loan, Kredit Bee, Credit Guru, Royal Cash deck, Deck Loan, Saga Pocket Loan.
He said if anybody threatens or works for loan apps, they would be punished under 384 and 386 IPC and get 10 years’ jail.
The police arrested Lambadi Naresh (23) of Manikonda of Rangareddy district in Telangana, Medisetty Pridwi Raju (22) of P Thimmapuram village in Pithapuram mandal, Nakka Sumanth (23) of Eleswaram, Danaboyina Bhaskar (23) of Sirisapalli village of NR Peta Road, Manda Veera Venkata Haribabu (23) of J Annavaram village of Eleswaram mandal, Korupolu Ramakrishna (24) of KKAgraharam of K Kotapadu mandal of Visakhapatnam district and Kolluru Srinivasa Yadav (27) of Madeenaguda of Miyapur in Rangareddy district.
