Adilabad: Villagers detain Sarpanch,Village secretary for not sanctioning pensions

ADILABAD: Some villagers of Nagapur detained the village secretary and Sarpanch and locked them in the Panchayat office for not sanctioning pensions for the last four years to the eligible beneficiaries in Utnoor mandal on Tuesday.

According to sources, some villagers were not happy with the Sarpanch and village secretary since there was a huge delay in sanctioning them Asara Pensions and they were running from pillar to post for Asara pensions for the last years.

The villagers who did not get the Asara pensions staged a protest at the gram panchayat and they detained the Sarpanch when he went to Grampamchayat knowing the protest.

Some villagers alleged that their names were not found in the new list of beneficiaries of Asara Pensions and Asara pensions have been sanctioned to the rich people. The villagers detained the Sarpanch Sunil Jadhav and village secretary Manisha.

Village elders held talks with the Sarpanch and took the promise to get sanctioned Asara pensions to the eligible poor by taking up the issue with the top officials. And villages released the Sarpanch and village secretary later.
