Over 100 students suffer food poisoning in Nizamabad

Hyderabad: At least 100 students who are pursuing at the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya in Nizamabad district were admitted to a hospital due to food poisoning at the school's hostel. The incident took place at Bheemgal of Nizamabad district.

Officials said that students had dinner last night and breakfast on Tuesday morning. Students complained of vomiting and stomach pain. The school staff shifted them to a government hospital for treatment. Students and their parents alleged that the school premises are not hygienic, and the hostel staff served unhygienic food to students.

District collector Rajiv Hanumanthu visited the hospital and enquired about the condition of students. It was suspected that food poisoning caused students to fall sick. The collector called for an inquiry and asked for a report.

Roads and buildings minister V. Prashanth Reddy visited the hospital and interacted with the students. The minister asked the doctors about the health condition of students. The minister directed officials to look into the issue of serving of hygienic food to students.

BJP leader Tarun Chugh demanded that the government provide basic facilities to students suffering from food poisoning. “How many more students have to get poisoned for the farmhouse Chief Minister to wake up and fix the issues? Is it just because they don't have voting rights that their problems are neglected? This kind of negligent behaviour will ensure that Dora is permanently sent to a farmhouse," he said.
