Vijayawada: A pangolin was seized and a woman was arrested by the forest authorities at Macherla in Palnadu district late on Tuesday.
Based on a tip off that a pangolin was under illegal possession at a house, the forest authorities raided the place and seized the animal. They took the women into custody on charges of violation of relevant provisions of Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
The animal was produced before the magistrate at a local court and was shifted to the animal rescue centre as the animal was having injuries on its body.
The animal was reportedly brought from Nalgonda of Telangana and the forest authorities are on the lookout to nab the main accused in the case.
